I am Timothy Benson a father of 2 and soon to be a grandfather (except I am too young for that). I have had many interests and hobbies over the years, some have suck with me. I have a fleet of Radio Control Cars, I have my motorcycle and my WRX.

My first real job was working in a warehouse as an assistant supervisor then as supervisor. I was in my early 20’s and this is where I “grew up”. Many people in my field today cannot understand why I am the way I am because they don’t understand where I come from. That warehouse closed and I went to work for SYSCO foods. There I learned about unions, the good and the bad. My primary job was to check orders before they were loaded for accuracy. I won in my first year an employee of the year award because our mis picks per cases shipped plummeted after I started checking orders. Here is where I learned how to be fair. Finding mistake would cost the order selectors their incentive pays sometimes upwards of $100 per night. So, I was not well liked. But unlike checkers in the past I was fair and once they learned that the job got easier. That SYSCO branch closed. I went back to college. University of Pittsburgh and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Next I was off to work non secure residential placement. There I learned my limits of what was acceptable and what I would not accept. Primarily teens from Buffalo and Rochester who were gang affiliated juvenile delinquents, again working my way to assistant supervisor. From there I was off to where I am now. I work for Children and Youth (CPS or CYS different states have different names) I investigate child abuse and work with families in need of assistance. My favorite to work with are the teenagers because they think they have the answers but don’t. I have taken childre  from their parents (not easy) that follows you home at night. I have reunited children with their families (that’s rewarding). Stress is a constant in my job.

I was lucky enough to join Team Jen Speed. The Team is a team or group like no other I have been invited to. They people in the group are helpful, not hurtful, if you are struggling with a problem with your car, the members always give advice or tips to help solve the issue. For instance, my car was throwing a p1007 code a member and I played with ideas and figured out what was causing the code. That kind of support is priceless. And the benefits go on from there. The giveaways, the lottery for products, part of the proceeds are donated to charity, the monthly drawing. AND, if there is a question posted and none of the team answers it correctly nobody wins and a member with the knowledge will answer the question correctly so we all learn. This idea of teaching members is something that sets Team Jen Speed apart from the other clubs/teams. I proudly represent the team.

My WRX was purchased in March of 2015, I have driven every mile of the 120k+ on the car. Over the years it has gone thru some minor modifications. It is a 4-season car I live in Pennsylvania and we get snow, my car is no garage queen. The WRX aka “Smokey”

The goal for Smokey is to be a sleeper, modified but done in a way that is not flashy and over the top, but subtle, tastefully hidden. Being a 4-season car, it has to be reliable and able to handle the elements. I can’t have my primary source of winter transportation being unreliable. My job requires at times that I have to respond to a situation any time day or night. I need reliability. Smokey is reliable, reliably fast, reliably good handling, reliably going to smoke, (until I change the turbo)
