Robert Andrews

My name is Robert Andrews, I go by Drew. I'm 33 years old, currently serving in the US Navy stationed out of Virginia at the moment.

Growing up, I was captivated by the exhilarating world of cars and the vibrant automotive culture that surrounded them. Among the many subcultures, my heart was drawn to the JDM scene, which encompassed the Japanese Domestic Market and its unique approach to automotive customization. This love affair was fueled by a mix of iconic movies like the Fast and Furious franchise, the thrilling Gone in 60 Seconds, and the adrenaline-pumping video games like Need for Speed and Gran Turismo.

The Fast and Furious movies served as a gateway into the car scene, introducing me to a world where speed, style, and individuality converged. I was mesmerized by the meticulously modified vehicles, especially the ones with JDM influences, such as the legendary Nissan Skyline GT-R or the MKIV Toyota Supra. Witnessing these machines tear up the streets in epic chase scenes, I couldn't help but fall in love with and want to become part of this culture. It instilled in me the belief that a car isn't just a means of transportation but a canvas where a person can express their passion and personality.

My fascination with the JDM scene was further fueled by playing iconic video games (The Need for Speed and Gran Turismo). These games became my playgrounds, allowing me to explore an extensive range of vehicles, customizations, and racing challenges. These games nurtured my desire to modify cars, pushing the boundaries of performance and aesthetics.

Among the countless JDM legends, one car stole my heart – the Subaru WRX. Its combination of raw power, all-wheel drive capabilities, and rally heritage resonated with me on a deep level. I envisioned transforming a WRX into a true automotive masterpiece, a reflection of my passion and personality.

Customizing a car is more than a mere hobby; it has become a true passion. I find myself researching different modifications, learning from people with various aftermarket parts, and seeing people fine-tune the engine to extract every ounce of performance.

My goals for customizing the Subaru WRX are fueled by a desire to create a vehicle that is not only visually stunning but also an absolute thrill to drive. The journey to achieve this will involve countless hours of researching, collaborating with fellow car enthusiasts, and honing my skills as a DIY mechanic.

In the end, loving the car scene, especially the JDM sect, goes beyond the movies, games, and specific car models. It's about embracing a community of like-minded individuals who share a common passion for automotive artistry and performance. It's about the pursuit of personal expression through customizing a vehicle, turning it into a unique representation of oneself. The love for the car scene, driven by inspirations from pop culture and a burning desire to create, continues to ignite my spirit and fuels my automotive dreams.

The modification list I've got done to my car is small now, and there's so much more I want to do. But I know that all good things take time and energy. When it's all said and done, I can't wait to have my car at shows, and being able to point to it and say, "That's MY car."
